Pinwheel Birthday Party
Last week was spent mostly trying to get ready for my daughter's birthday party. Thanks to springtime, we planned the birthday party in a park......and decided on pinwheels as the theme.
I sent out invitations with moving pinwheels on them (Evite).
Then came the menu....sandwiches or wraps?? Neither...I made pinwheels! Pinwheels with Lavash bread rolled with cream cheese and hummus fillings. They were a hit at the party!

I also decided to make cake at home, and spent some time practicing piping the frosting. I did not want to get overly ambitious with the cake decorations...so I decided on paper decoration (not touching the frosting). I found cute little working pinwheels in Michaels during Easter sale. I made a bunting out of card stock paper and tied it up between two pinwheel poles.
My daughter wanted a pink cake, so I went for a strawberry cake mix (Betty Crocker) and made it eggless considering a few friends who prefer not to eat eggs. I made a whipped cream icing and used cream cheese for stabilization. It turned out to be very light and yumm (had a hard time to get by daughter away from the frosting before it even got on the cake!)
I iced the cake to be a complete coral color with slightly darker coral colored border made of dots (to match my daughters dress)
My daughter is able to read and sometimes write her name now, so she wants to read it on the cake....which meant it should not be written in a fancy writing but in block letters :) Here is the final product of all this prep just before we cut it!
I also made some mini cupcakes, and stuck some of the pinwheels into them
I wanted to make a bunting garland to hang somewhere in the park....to match the bunting on the cake. Instead I found these cute flower card stock cutouts at Michaels and decided to use them. I added a few doilies and made a long garland using my sewing machine.
A little friend of my daughter's turned exactly 1.5 years old on the day of our park party, so I made a small cake for her to cut.
And lastly, I just wanted to add the pictures of the birthday cakes that I made on my little one's actual birthday
